Abstract

This research is entitled The meaning of bribery and cacap-cacapan in traditional
marriage in Palembang city. This research discusses the phenomenon of the meaning of bribes and
cacapan-cacapan which is carried out at traditional marriages in the city of Palembang. Bribes and
cacap-cacapan are the last care of parents and extended families in the form of feeding the bride
and groom with roasted chicken turmeric sticky rice and sprinkling setananam flower soaking water
on the bride's head. This research is a descriptive qualitative research. The aim of this research is
to describe the meaning of bribes and remarks and what the meaning of each procession is to be
undertaken. Based on the results of research on the meaning of bribery and speech, this posession
is a positive thing which contains prayers and hopes from parents, family and closest people.
